Casey Marie Anthony:
Born: March 19, 1986 in Warren, Ohio
Parents: George and Cindy Anthony
Sibling(s): Lee Anthony
Children: Casey Marie Anthony (deceased)
Casey Marie Anthony was a normal child by all accounts. The youngest child of George and Cindy Anthony, and sibling to brother Lee Anthony. Described as a happy and outgoing child, who somehow began a pattern of habitual lying that dates back to her days in high school.
As her parents, brother and grandparents sat waiting for the commencement ceremonies to begin, Casey was absent. She was short a few credits and stopped attending high school altogether months before, yet led her family to believe she not only finished her requirements for high school, but would be walking into the ceremony with the rest of the graduating class.
The lying became a way of life to Casey, and some experts have stated that she may actually believe her own lies. At nineteen Casey began putting on quite a bit of weight and appeared to be pregnant. Yet when questioned by her family, she denied the pregnancy and stated that she was a virgin. It was only after a family vacation to an uncle’s wedding that the truth came out. After Cindy Anthony had been told by more than one family member that her daughter looked extremely far along in a pregnancy did Cindy find out the truth.Casey was seven months pregnant and sadly the true identity of the father was never revealed.
Engaged to a man named Jesse Grund, Casey allowed him to believe that he was Caylee’s father. Caylee Marie Anthony was born on August 9, 2005. Casey and Caylee lived with her parents and Grund took on the role of the father despite knowing that it was highly unlikely due to the timing of the pregnancy. After being suspicious for some time it was revealed through a DNA test that Jesse Grund was without a doubt, not Caylee’s father.
After the disappointment, and Casey naming another man but stated that he died in a car crash, Grund continued by all accounts to be Caylee’s father. Casey and Caylee were accepted with open arms into his family even though the parents of Grund were skeptical of her. The one thing that was true was that Caylee Marie Anthony was loved.
The seemingly ordinary Anthony family seems anything but. Casey confided in a friend shortly before Caylee was born that she did not want to have the child and thought about adoption but her mother prohibited it. Casey appeared to be jealous of the bond that Caylee had with her grandparents, lied for two years about going to work daily, created an imaginary Nanny named Zanny, and seemed to create an imaginary life.
Casey Anthony was a young mother, she thankfully had parents who would see to it that her daughter and herself were provided for. She had a mother who excused her lies and behavior and sadly she believed she was able to do anything she pleased without a consequence.
The name Casey Anthony was not the name of a faasey Granparents mous celebrity, an everyday hero, or for that matter a name that would have ever been known until July 16, 2008. That day made the name one that will be remembered for years to come.
By all accounts, an event unfolded in the Anthony home on the night of June 16, 2008. Casey had stolen money and was arguing with her mother. She had stolen money before and when asked what made this time different Cindy Anthony replied that this time she stole from Cindy’s mother. Casey’s grandparents had sent her a check for her birthday from an account used to pay for her Grandfather’s care in a nursing home. Casey took the routing number and account number from that check and paid a cell phone bill totaling over three hundred dollars. When confronted by her mother apparently the argument was enough to make Casey take Caylee out of the house the following morning.
July 16, 2008 the world was introduced to Caylee Marie Anthony. A three year old child from the Orlando Florida area who had been missing unreported for 31 days. Unreported by her own mother Casey Anthony, and were it not for her mother Cindy Anthony it would have been much longer than 31 days. Casey Anthony began to weave a web of lies that unraveled before her eyes and this time nobody was believing any of it.
According to reports, witness accounts, law enforcement, family and friends, the events that unfolded from June 16th to July 16th, Casey Anthony was anything but a grieving mother whose child was missing. She was partying, hanging out with various men, giving the impression to those who asked that her daughter was with the Nanny at the beach, spending money from friends bank accounts, and more importantly doing everything she could to continue to dodge every inquiry by her family as to where Caylee was. (see timeline)
Caylee Anthony’s little body was found December 11, 2008 less than a mile from her home in a wooded area that ironically enough was the place where her mother hung out with friends in high school and was mentioned by a former friend. By the time Caylee was discovered her body was so decomposed that the cause of death was determined to be homicide but without undetermined means. The only thing present was a piece of duct tape with a heart shaped sticker over her mouth.
Casey Anthony was arrested more than once and charged with everything from Check Fraud to First Degree Murder. Her attorney Jose Baez became almost as hated as Casey herself. His inexperience led the world to believe that her death by lethal injection was imminent. Yet to the surprise of everyone including the Anthony Family, Casey Anthony walked out of the Orange County Jail at the end of July 2011 after almost three years.
As of September 2011 Casey Anthony has not been seen in public and has not been in contact with her family. According to her attorney she is in therapy and trying to put her life back together.
